Powders of the N100 line are single-base powders that are predominantly used in gun calibers. Vihtavuori N165 is a universal powder designed for big bullet magnum rifles. It fits beautifully in the Lapua Magnum, which has a 250-gram capacity, but it can also fit sizes ranging from 6,5 to 416 SE.
It works especially well in the Lapua Magnum. Although the N165 powder grains are the same size as the N160 powder grains, the surface coating differs in terms of burning characteristics due to the powder granules’ diameter of 1,3 mm (length x 1,0 mm). N165 is a better choice for heavy bullets and a similar number of cartridges because it is a slow-burning rifle powder.
